A quick observation

Now that we’ve all survived April Fool’s Day…

I had a question.

Who started this?

There are a few theories, but one of my favorites goes back to 16th century France—when the calendar shifted and some people didn’t get the memo. They kept celebrating the new year in spring… and everyone else decided the appropriate response was to mock them.

Naturally.

And honestly? Not much has changed.

We still love a good misdirect.
A well-timed reveal.
That moment where what you thought was true… isn’t.

(It’s probably why suspense works so well.)

Which means, yes—April Fool’s is basically built on the same mechanics as a good story.

Set the expectation.
Twist it.
Watch the reaction.

Anyway… speaking of stories that might keep you guessing…

👉 If you’re new, Storm Warning is where it all begins
👉 Storm Front raises the stakes…
👉 And Storm Surge is coming very soon. (Zach doesn’t do “calm.”)

No tricks this time. Just good books.

More soon,
—Jena
